After spending a day in San Diego we headed up to LA. I am always amazed by the LA traffic. There are 18 lanes, they are all packed, and everyone is going 70 mph.

As soon as we got into the city it started to pour. Californian’s hate the rain. I watched people run for cover and look up at the sky in disgust. I’d love to see what would happen with a foot of snow in SoCal.

We headed over to Melrose and Fairfax because that’s where all of the cool kids hang out. There was a pretty awesome spot called Canter’s Deli that has been there forever. If you are in the area, check this place out.

We checked out the Bape store, Kid Robot, The Hundreds, Johnny Cupcakes, Supreme, Diamond, and RVCA while we were on the block. Each one has it’s own feel, music, and look. You can get an idea of what each is about based on the vibe.

Another part of LA that I love is the graffiti. Although I didn’t see as much as I would have liked too, I did see a bunch along the freeway. It looks like these kids just stand out on the highway not worrying about a thing. Also I noticed that kids will climb up pretty high just to catch a tag.

Oh yeah and did I mention we have free shipping on all orders for a limited time?

It is made clear that I am a huge Obey fan and have been for some time. The new fall and winter line is out. Dope as usual.

Not only do all graffiti writers have pretty nails but also all of their clothes end up looking like this.

Gritty stencil style.

Obey your wallet.

I don’t plan on posting too much more on politics now that the election is over. Here is something thats preety cool though.

I was thinking about my children and how their history books will be different. Pushing things Forward!

Super bonus triple post day. Shepard Fairey (Obey) ‘s new book is out. It features his work from his 2007 show at the Jonathan Levin Gallery in New York City. The pictures show the large propaganda style posters that he has been “decorating” neighborhoods with in the recent past. I still find it crazy that he still puts his posters up when everyone knows who he is. Maybe he is so big that people just like them and appreciate the free artwork.

I have been a Sarah Silverman fan for sometime now. She has that high school humor that keeps you young. Although she occasionally goes too far, it’s all in good fun. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgHHX9R4Qtk]

And some Ron English while we are on the topic…

One of my favorite lines these days is easily Obey. I have been a fan since before it was a company. I find myself telling more people about the background of the posters every time I rock it. I remember seeing the giant posters in St. Louis and Cincy back in 99. If you don’t know the story read up. Its worth it. I’ll probably have more on this in the future.
