Lady Liberty and Francisco de Miranda. Francisco de Miranda was a freemason.

Nineteenth Century. The Century of War.

The fight for the precious Black Gold that we still see today.

The dictarorship of Perez Jimenez and his National Police.  A tough time for everyone. Many were kidnap and never seen again by the National Police.

The Guaicaipuro Indians are original natives of these parts.

Check out Queen Elizabeth and King Ferdinand.

This is the rising of the “Pueblo”; the people rose against the Conquistadores. I’ll post the best part of this mural later… Stay tuned for part 3.

Here is a stencil of an eagle, a symbol of the United States, with a prohibited circle and the words ‘YANKEE GO HOME”.  These are up all around what is left of what used to be the HILTON HOTEL. Author unknown.

Venezuela is a huge catholic country. The first week of April is Semana Santa (Holy Week or Easter) so severyone gets usually a 4 day weekend. I took my 4 day weekend to enjoy the beach and  take some videos of the Graffiti scene in Caracas. Writers and highways have a special connection. The bigger, the more exposed, the better. Doing a piece on the freeway is always a great feeling… Well I leave you a short vid of some of the freeways here in Caracas. I will try to get better angles and shots next time. Stay tuned cause there are many more to come!

After spending a day in San Diego we headed up to LA. I am always amazed by the LA traffic. There are 18 lanes, they are all packed, and everyone is going 70 mph.

As soon as we got into the city it started to pour. Californian’s hate the rain. I watched people run for cover and look up at the sky in disgust. I’d love to see what would happen with a foot of snow in SoCal.

We headed over to Melrose and Fairfax because that’s where all of the cool kids hang out. There was a pretty awesome spot called Canter’s Deli that has been there forever. If you are in the area, check this place out.

We checked out the Bape store, Kid Robot, The Hundreds, Johnny Cupcakes, Supreme, Diamond, and RVCA while we were on the block. Each one has it’s own feel, music, and look. You can get an idea of what each is about based on the vibe.

Another part of LA that I love is the graffiti. Although I didn’t see as much as I would have liked too, I did see a bunch along the freeway. It looks like these kids just stand out on the highway not worrying about a thing. Also I noticed that kids will climb up pretty high just to catch a tag.

Oh yeah and did I mention we have free shipping on all orders for a limited time?

Yes! Another Banksy post. And you’ll read it and like it. I’m not sure how many Banksy posts I’ve done to date but as you can tell, I love the work. With world leaders meeting to discuss climate change, Banksy pops up with some commentary on the subject.

Here are the other installations. All of which are traditional Bansy including the rat. With all of the attention he has recieved, I am surprised he still remains in the shadows. No one knows who Banksy is and he still continues to produce his work in its original illegal form.

Pretty dope. I found these pictures here.

Its a beautiful Labor Day and while the rest of the country is resting, we are here laboring away for you. While we slave away in front of a hot computer screen we’re bumping the new Kid Cudi album. I have been waiting for this CD for a good year now. Although I can’t hook you up with a copy because that is illegal and this is an artist I don’t mind supporting, I suggest you go out and scoop it on 9/15/09 when it drops. It’s well worth what ever you cough up for it.

As you are aware, FM is rooted in many sub-cultures. One that we have apprecieated and respected for as long as I can remember is the Graffiti culture. Apparently graffiti writers are also gang bangers. If you haven’t seen the latest L.A. Times article, it is now illegal for “vandals” to be seen in groups. So now you dont actually need to apply a medium to a surface to be breaking the law. If you have a notebook that you doodle in and happen to know more than one other person I suggest you stay out of L.A. because you are now commiting a crime. The same law that allows police officers to break up gangs and arrest gangmembers will now also apply to “Vandals”. In the article the officer of the law proclaims “The end of day” for the L.A. graffiti scene. In case they are not aware, the graffiti writer is most productive when the day comes to its end. I like to refer to this time as “Night”. R.I.P. L.A. Graffiti?

I got together with some old friends who are in the web design and marketing business at La Fuente yesterday. The conversation started with my perspective on designing graphics and the direction FM is headed. We also discussed different aspects of art in different mediums such as dance, lyrics and the rise, fall, and on going rise again of graffiti in the city.

Venturing into the depths of the graffiti subculture is always eye opening for people who have not been previously exposed to it other than that time their dad buffed a tag off of their garage door.  I’m guessing I will lose yet another copy of Style Wars to the rotation of people who are new to the film.

The discussion then switched to Twitter (which I discussed on my Twitter account during the conversation) and how Jessie doesn’t get it. And Jessie doesn’t like what she doesn’t get.

After the margaritas began to take hold the conversation took a strange turn to Mandy’s love for the Bone Thugs N Harmony song “Ghetto Cowboys” and how The Box was the best channel in Milwaukee. If you aren’t familiar, it was MTV with better videos that you could pay to request. No Shows just videos. We all have that one song that we can listen to over and over, Hyperballad or Day N Nite immediately come to mind, but I don’t  know if Ghetto Cowboys would make that list.
