It’s been a long hot summer, not that we are complaining up here in Wisconsin. We will take as much sun as we can get. I took a trip to visit our neighbors of the immediate south, FIBs as we call them around here, to see our old friend Brian get hitched. I know my way around Chicago like I know my way around the back of my head.

…So obviously I got lost.

After a good hour of driving around in the hot sun in my black suit I stumbled upon the venue.

The wedding was at a pretty chill spot called Salvage One. It was filled with old bird cages, random mirrors, and other stuff that you might see in your grandma’s attic. The best part was the waterfall. Or maybe the moat.

After the best ceremony ever (it was 20 minutes tops!) we headed inside and crashed the smoothie bar. I love old buildings that have been gutted and redone. Yeah yeah I know that its trendy and there are a million of those now. So what.

Brian let me know that a “Vegan” wedding meant that we were eating rabbit food for dinner. Damn it. I knew I should have put “Meat” under special dietary needs when I RSVP’d. It’s not easy being a meatatarian these days. Turns out veggies aren’t that bad.

I had to sit at the kid table with all of the trouble makers. Lev and his lady flew in from Cali,

Jackson showed off his sweet bald spot he got from falling off of his fixie (Damn hipsters),

And Travis wowed James with his conversation skills.

After that I had to hit up the photo booth. Lets just say I wont need to pay for a new passport photo now.

It’s always good to catch up with old friends now that half of them are scattered across the country and not legally allowed back in Milwaukee. Awesome wedding. Congrats to Brain and Sofia!

Time to get ready for the next one.

I went to go check out what all the hype was around this “Inception” last night. After seeing a few clips here and there it looked like it was going to be really good or way over done. Turns out the movie was flat out dope. I think.

I’m not a huge DiCapprio fan but I thought he was pretty good in Growing Pains so I give him the benefit of the doubt most of the time. I don’t want to give the movie away but it’s about dreams and stealing stuff.

The idea is that someone sneaks into your dreams and steals information from you. I don’t think anyone would want into my dreams. They would be at work and realize they are naked all the time.

I’m not sure if I really saw the movie or if that was only a dream about seeing the movie or maybe this blog isn’t really real. Either way I’m going to check it out again this weekend.

Check out this amazing hand-painted (brush) mural located in the heart of Caracas right in front of the new Museum of National Art. The mural portrays allof the national symbols of Venezuela. There is the LORO or Parrot. The LORO is predominant in the Amazon of the country. Also the ORCHID, the national flower. Enjoy the first part of this amazing mural . . Stay tuned for more pictures of what´s left of it.

200 Years of Independence… Bicentenario

This past April many Latin American countries are celebrating their 200 years of Independence. Venezuela is one of them. To celebrate the BICENTENARIO (2 centuries) portraits of SIMON BOLIVAR are being painted everywhere. Some with brushes and others with aerosol. This one in particular is spray-painted on.

The portraits are mostly of EL LIBERTADOR Simon Bolivar along with a silhouette of him on his horse, a symbol of freedom for many Latin countries.

The Tucan, a bird that’s abundant in the thick of the Venezuelan amazon is considered to be a national bird. This peace is great.

FM vacations II…Aruba

From Tucacas, Venezuela we head out to Aruuuuuba! Aruba is a Dutch island located just about 15 miles from Falcon, Venezuela. Back in the colinazation days, Venezuelans fled to Aruba to escape the Spaniards, Portugues, and many other invaders that during that era where trying to conquer everything they could. The locals speak English, Spanish, Papiamento (mix of dutch, spanish, english, and God knows what else) and Dutch.

Aruba’s slogan is: ONE HAPPY ISLAND… They are not lying about that!!! Everyone here is actually very happy. The community here is a mixture of everything from Argentinians, Dutch, Americans, Venezuelans, Uruguayans, Mexicans, Dominicans, Colombians. I saw people from everywhere… It was amazing!!!! NO BORDERS HERE!!!

We were preparing to go out scuba diving. The locals love their ocean and nature. They enforce the laws and rules to keep it clean. One of the pier workers said it best: “We don’t own the ocean… The ocean owns us. She was here first.”

NO THIS IS NOT A POST CARD!!!. This is real!!! That’s a sunset on the beach in Aruba.

FM Vacations….

At the FM headquarters we work hard but also play hard. Since we´re in Venezuela, we cannot die before seeing the beautiful islands that the Caribbean has to offer us. We got a chance to see the Tucacas Islands located in the Estate of Falcon. Barely touched by the human hand, you have take a small boat to reach any of them. In this flick we took a tour around an island made out of only vegetation. There is no flat land at all. Here a multitude of birds come and do their thing.

This is a great shot from our small boat. Nature at its best!!!

This is one of the islands where you can come and enjoy nature and escape the stress of the city.

Do I need to say more? Lets take care of our Mother Earth.
